Youth cyclists from the Mosta AF Sign Studio Cycling Club recently took part in the Kerry Youth Tour in Ireland.
The Mosta riders were James Dimech, Daniel Borg and Stephan Behan. They were assisted by coach Joe Muscat and club official Frank Dimech.
The Kerry Youth Tour consisted of three mass start races and a time trial over three days. The Tour is open for three categories - U-12, U-14 and U-16.
Fourteen teams from Ireland, Wales, Scotland, England, Belgium, Malta and South Africa, took part. There were 60 participants in the U-16 tour alone.
In the final classification, Dimech was 20th from 62 finishers in the U-16 tour and eighth overall in the bracket for U-15s. Borg and Behan were involved in a group collision in the third race that cost them precious time.
In Ireland, Dimech established new contacts with other clubs and next year the Kerry Youth Tour organisers have invited the Mosta club to take part again.
They were also interested in exchange training and race programmes with Mosta CC.
Before returning home, the Mosta riders also took part in the Orangefield Park Track Race in Belfast. The event is held inside an outdoor velodrome.
