Nine teams will be taking part in the 2007/08 Malta FA Women's League.

Rabat Ajax are not taking part this season but there will be two new teams in the competition, Pembroke Athleta and Lija Athletic.

The same league format of last season will be retained, with five teams in Group A and four in Group B in the second phase of the competition.

Since the association will be having two divisions as from next season, there will be a play-off between the teams ending fifth in Group A and first in Group B to determine which club retains its place in the top division.

Meanwhile, the Malta FA announced that the Futsal League will be having a total of 67 teams for season 2007/08. The number means an addition of 17 teams on the previous year.

Thirteen teams will form part of the First Division. The Second Division will be made up of 14 teams divided into two sections.

As from season 2008/09 the top division will be reduced to 11 teams, and for season 2009/10 to ten teams.
