A 16-year-old boy and a 21-year-old, Wayne Delia of Fgura, were arraigned before Magistrate Doreen Clarke yesterday accused of attacking and resisting the police.

The two were also charged with slightly injuring, threatening and insulting a policeman, voluntarily damaging his uniform and mobile phone, breaching the peace, failing to obey the legitimate orders of the police and breaching court conditions not to commit other crimes.

The alleged incidents took place at around 11.15 p.m. on Friday in Triq Sant'Andrija, St Julians.

Mr Delia was also accused of trying to bribe the policeman, of driving under the influence of drink or drugs and of refusing to submit himself to a breathalyser test.

The accused pleaded not guilty and were granted bail against a deposit of Lm100 and a personal guarantee of Lm200.
