An 18-year-old youth was remanded in custody yesterday after being charged with attempted murder.

David Spiteri pleaded not guilty to the charge of attempting to kill Mark Debono early on Friday in Paceville. He also pleaded not guilty to seriously injuring Mr Debono in an inhabited area.

Magistrate Tonio Micallef Trigona expressed his concern that the accused was carrying a weapon in an entertainment area, especially considering his age.

Police Inspectors Raymond Cassar and Martin Sammut prosecuted, while Dr Henry Antoncich appeared for the accused.
