How to get away with it

8:15 p.m. on Saturday, August 18 at the Vittoriosa Waterfront. A pale blue convertible Bentley with English number plates pulls up in front of the restaurants and parks right under an "unloading only" sign.

The owner and his boyfriend go for drinks followed by a Chinese meal together with another male couple.

9:45 p.m., a warden accompanied by a security officer, walks up, looks at the car, punches in something on his little machine and walks away.

10:15 p.m., I question two wardens and the security officer as to how come the offender was not given a ticket, clamped or towed away. The answer was that since the car had a foreign number plate, nothing could be done! Incredible but true!

Moral of the story: Get yourself a boyfriend and a pale blue Convertible Bentley with English number plates and you are untouchable.
