Ian Rush to launch ticket sales

Former Liverpool great Ian Rush will be in Malta this weekend to launch the ticket sales of the England-Italy Match of Legends which will be played at the National Stadium on November 1.

Rush, who also played for Juventus in a successful career, will address a conference call at Ta' Qali tomorrow morning and will also be present for the first ticket sales from the Splash and Fun complex at Bahar ic-Caghaq.

Organisers of the England-Italy Match of Legends yesterday told The Times that Welshman Rush cannot make a showing for any of the two sides on the pitch in November. However, he will be in charge of the English team of veteran players, some of whom are former World Cup players.

Rush, having played in the Italian and English top flights, enjoys huge popularity in Malta. For tomorrow's launching, organisers have also invited representatives of local supporters clubs.

The Match of Legends will be followed by a live Simply Red concert at the Malta Fairs and Convention Centre, Ta' Qali, on November 2.
