An irregular immigrant has been charged with assaulting and slightly injuring a solder when he bit her leg last month.

Ethiopian national Ismail Obssa, 26, who resides at the Lyster Barracks in Hal Far, pleaded not guilty to trying to seriously injure the soldier, slightly injuring her and threatening three other soldiers on July 25.

He was remanded in police custody.

Police Inspector Johann Fenech prosecuted.
