Tony Drago was drawn to play England's David Gray in the first round of the Saga Insurance Masters qualifying tournament which starts on September 7.

The Maltese professional is one of 62 players included in the draw of the competition that sees the winner earning a wild card for the prestigious invitational event that is held at the Wembley Arena between January 13 and 20, 2008.

Drago has shown positive form at the start of the 2007/08 season. He qualified for the first round proper of the Shanghai Masters, the opening ranking event on the WSA calendar.

Although he lost his opening round match against eventual finalist Ryan Day, Drago still managed to move up 13 places in the world list and is now ranked 55th.

The Drago-Gray winner will go on to meet Mark King or Thailand's Issara Kachaiwong.

The first round draw has reserved a mouth-watering tie between two former Masters champions as Jimmy White was paired with Matthew Stevens.

Maltese-Australian Steve Mifsud will face Andrew Norman.
