GFI Software has made a strategic technology acquisition to allow it to achieve steeper growth in the expanding e-mail archiving market, which the company serves through its GFI MailArchiver.

Through the acquisition of XEmplifyIT's technology, GFI will now be in a position to service a much larger customer base and offer additional functionality - such as the migration of cumbersome PST files into GFI MailArchiver and auditing - without raising the price proportionally. The e-mail archiving market is experiencing rapid growth for various reasons: Companies need to heavily reduce the amount of space required to store e-mails as well as decreasing their reliance on PST files; they need to ensure central archiving of all company e-mail; and they have to meet strict and varied compliance regulations such as Sarbanes-Oxley in the US.

By 2008, approximately 75 per cent of US companies are expected to be using some form of archiving solution, up from 20 per cent in 2005.

"According to Gartner, the e-mail archiving market is estimated to grow to $921 million by 2010," Curtis H. Staker, chairman and CEO at GFI said. GFI believes that through this strategic technology acquisition, it will now offer scalability for 1,000+ mailboxes.
