Gonzi vs Sant

Both Alfred Sant and Lawrence Gonzi have been prime ministers of this country. But the difference is here: Dr Sant represents failure while Dr Gonzi represents success. The economic progress has been brought about thanks to Dr Gonzi's fine leadership.

Both Alfred Sant and Lawrence Gonzi have been prime ministers of this country. But the difference is here: Dr Sant represents failure while Dr Gonzi represents success.

The economic progress has been brought about thanks to Dr Gonzi's fine leadership. The introduction of the euro as our national currency is a clear sign that the economy, in the EU's judgment, is credible and sustainable.

Dr Sant led a campaign against the EU. He said we would not benefit from it if we became members. His campaign failed when the nation realised that Malta needed the EU. I ask Dr Sant now to come out of his dream world and look at present-day Malta. Not the Malta which he failed to lead in his 22 incompetent months as Prime Minister, mind you, but the Malta which Dr Gonzi has led for a mere three years. Thanks to EU membership, Malta will benefit from more than €1 billion! Some of Dr Sant's brainwashed victims still say that with or without the EU, Malta would be the same! Are we not living in the same country?

Am I the only person who makes use of more than 400 newly built streets? Am I the only person who takes a walk on the dozens of promenades that this government built? Am I the only person who can see the enormous progress taking place in Valletta? (The park and ride system, the new pavements, the construction of the Valletta Waterfront, the increasing number of cruise liners and passengers...) Do the people think that half of the things which were done thanks to EU funding would have been done if we had not joined the EU? Can you imagine if we had listened to Dr Sant and voted against membership?

What about the Mater Dei project? Do the people think we could still make use of St Luke's Hospital? Some 80,000 people visited the Mater Dei Hospital during the open weekend and they all had positive comments about the largest investment project ever undertaken by a government. Dr Sant was against this hospital. Obviously, he is against every single thing which brings progress.

All sectors have seen progress under Dr Gonzi - the educational, environmental, cultural and health sectors. Dr Gonzi found a way to properly invest money from the EU and he implemented the necessary actions to bring Malta to its feet. He will continue to manage the country as he has done for the past three years so that the voters will put their faith in him in the next general election.
