A small fire broke out in the pastry kitchen of the Radisson SAS Bay Point Resort in St Julians on Sunday at 5.45 a.m. when an electrical fault developed in one of the motors of the cold rooms, the resort said yesterday.

A full evacuation of the building was initiated as soon as the situation was assessed. The evacuation took just eight minutes, the resort said.

Once the fire was controlled and all the smoke cleared from the building the property was certified to be safe and all guests were asked to re-enter at 7.20 a.m.

"By 8 a.m. everything was back to normal and full services resumed within the property."
