Striker Antonio Cassano has spoken of his delight at signing for Sampdoria on loan after a difficult year-and-a-half in Spain at Real Madrid.
"I wanted at all costs to return to Italy and I have chosen Sampdoria because they are a serious club," he said.
"At Real Madrid my short spell went wrong and 70 per cent of it was all my fault.
"Now, however, I arrive greatly stimulated."
Last weekend, World Cup-winning Italy coach Marcello Lippi said Cassano's move to Sampdoria was the perfect way for the striker to resurrect his career.
"The lad has decided to take advantage of the best opportunity he had at a club that seems made to measure for him," Lippi told reporters.
"He will be able to play with calmness and in peace in order to demonstrate all his talent. It will depend on him."
