Danilo Doncic to launch football school
New academy aims to offer training in various sport
The Arena Sports Academy (ASA) is a new entity which incorporates various sport disciplines. The ASA's main objective is to provide professional training to young athletes on various sport.
ASA will commence its activities with the Danilo Doncic Zeus School of Football and the Ray Elliot School of Rugby, but there are plans to offer training in other sport.
The association between the two sport is practically a new concept for Malta as until now most organisations focus on one sport only. ASA intends to produce top athletes and provide a healthy environment for their members.
The football school will be spearheaded by Danilo Doncic, the former Valletta and Sliema Wanderers striker, currently the head coach of Premier League club Floriana. He will be assisted by two Serbian coaches who are already in Malta.
The Ray Elliot School of Rugby will be run by one of the oldest clubs in Malta - Kavallieri RFC. This rugby school has been named in memory of Ray Elliot, one of the first Kavallieri RFC's coaches who enjoyed great respect not only in the local rugby scene but also internationally.
The Academy will hold its training sessions at the Independence Arena.
All sports and training programmes will be announced in the near future. The Danilo Doncic School of Football can be contacted on 9942-2799. Telephone numbers for the Ray Elliot School of Rugby are 9942-9590 and 9949-6808.
