The Malta Environment and Planning Authority (Mepa) decided 763 applications last month and received 622 new applications, bringing the net pending caseload at the end of the month to 4,901.

The authority processed 121 notifications of development, which, according to the Development Notification Order 2001, do not require a formal application.

Eighty-nine Stop and Enforcement notices were issued, 79 in Malta and the rest in Gozo.

Eight enforcement cases were closed. Six enforcement cases were sanctioned by the issue of a sanctionable permit while two cases were withdrawn by Mepa.

Twenty-five cases received at the Complaints Office were resolved without the need of enforcement action, since owners complied with instructions given by Mepa enforcement officers.
