It was a good day for Life Cycle participants yesterday - one of the few after the problems encountered - as they cycled 227 kilometres from Zywiec to Nysa in Poland.

In this year's HSBC Life Cycle challenge (www.lifecyclechallenge.com), a number of cyclists and their back-up team are travelling 2,300 km from Romania to Germany, across Ukraine and Poland, to raise funds for St Luke's Hospital renal unit.

Spokeswoman Louise Bugeja said that although it was a relatively long ride yesterday, there were no steep hills. It was a beautiful sunny day and the scenery was breathtaking.

Today, the team will spend their last entire day in Poland, cycling 249 km from Nysa to Zielona Gora. There are now 23 cyclists after two were forced to withdraw through injury.

Donations can be made to Life Cycle in the accounts at HSBC (0611 987 920 50) or at Bank of Valletta (148 1452 1017), or by sending a text message to 5061 7356 for a Lm1 donation, to 5061 8921 for Lm3, or to 5061 9218 for Lm5.

Donations to the LifeCycle Organisation can also be sent c/o Renal Unit, St Luke's Hospital, Guardamangia.
