The new public garden in front of Wembley Garage at Spinola is an improvement over the shabby playground that existed before.

But the garden fails on two fronts: first because there is no shade whatsoever, and second, because the benches are torture to sit on!

How could anyone design a bench with no support for the back, and with a seat made up of upright pieces of wood that dig into your buttocks after 15 minutes? These benches, shaped like wooden racks, are the worst benches I've ever seen.

No wonder that Spinola Palace Garden lies deserted most of the time!

How can a public garden with no shade, and with uncomfortable benches, attract any people at all?
