• The feast of the Assumption is being celebrated today in Zebbug.

At 9 a.m. Bishop Mario Grech will concelebrate Mass with the Cathedral Chapter and priests from the parish. Marches will be played at 11.30 a.m., while the traditional animal races will be held in Zebbug Road at 2 p.m.

Solemn vespers will be sung at 6.30 p.m. The procession, led by Canon Noel Saliba and the St Mary Band, leaves at 7.15 p.m. The Leone Band will perform on Assumption Square at 8.30 p.m., followed by the salute at 10 p.m.

• The feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel is being celebrated today in Xlendi.

Concelebrated Mass will be led by Bishop Nikol Cauchi at 10 a.m.

The annual three-hour water sports event and greasy pole competition will be held in the bay from 3 p.m.

Solemn vespers will be sung at 6 p.m., followed by the procession at 7.30 p.m., with the participation of the St Margaret Band and Our Lady of Mount Carmel Fraternity of Zurrieq.

• The Diocesan Secretariat for the Lay Apostolate is organising a diocesan pilgrimage, led by Bishop Mario Grech, to Cospicua collegiate church on Tuesday. The group will board the 6 p.m. ferry. Tickets can be obtained from the Gozo diocese's office.
