Book on fossils and geology

George Zammit Maempel has presented a copy of his book Illustrators And Their Illustrations Of Maltese Fossils And Geology to Mario Tabone, Heritage Malta chairman, at the Heritage Malta head office in Valletta.

Dr Zammit Maempel has published several books on geology. In 1967 he was appointed assistant curator of natural history responsible for the geology and paleontology sections including Ghar Dalam Cave and Museum.

In 1973 he planned and actuated the Geology and Paleontology Halls at the Natural History Museum in Mdina.

In 1988 he was appointed curator, remaining in this post until 2002. During this period he planned and set up the museum at Ghar Dalam.
