31 arrested over drugs

Thirty-one people were arrested in connection with drugs on Wednesday, most of them after attending a party on the outskirts of Rabat, the police said.

Men and women aged between 16 and 42 were found in possession of ecstasy, cocaine or cannabis.

The majority are from the south of Malta while four Russian women are also being held. The arrests were made during an operation conducted by the police drug squad and during roadblocks set up in several areas by the army.

Eighteen of those arrested are being held by the drug squad, 13 by the army.

Investigations are being led by the drug squad.
