Last week it was reported that a very expensive dog, an Airedale Terrier, was found roaming the streets by the Abandoned Animals Association. What immediately comes to my mind is, is it possible that the association has not been supplied with a microchip scanner?
Don't the police have a chip scanner to scan found dogs and inform the owner immediately? It is pretty obvious that an Airedale Terrier has been imported and thus had to be microchipped as per international laws.
When I had my dog micro-chipped, I was assured that in the eventuality of my dog being lost, if found it would be scanned by the police or animal sanctuaries if taken there.
