My pet
The owner of our winning pet for August is Katie Jane Hutton, eight, of Marsascala
My pet is a cute, yellow, girl budgie called Lilly. She was born disabled, one foot without toes and with one wing smaller than the other. The pet shop man said she was not good enough to sell and she would not live long.
Lilly is now five years old; happy and well. I love my cute little budgie.
From Andrew Wait, 10, of Fgura
My cat's name is Lynx. We got Lynx from a kind lady who had many kittens. Lynx is one year and six months old. His colour is orange, with a lot of dark orange stripes and a bit of white under his neck and belly.
He eats dried food, meat and tuna and drinks lots of water.
In winter he sleeps in a very warm basket and we put some warm sheets on him. Lynx is a very polite cat and doesn't scratch. I miss him a lot when I go to school and when I go somewhere with my mum. I like my cat very much because he is my most precious pet.
From Jessica Schembri Higgans, 13, of Ghaxaq
I would like to write about my tabby-cat; Minnie. Minnie is a stray cat which I found four years ago. At that time she was only a little kitten, and without a mother. Minnie was always an affectionate kitten. She's so cute and so playful.
She is very loving and she likes to be patted and cuddled. Minnie lives on our farm together with some other cats but Minnie is my favourite. She has a large area to play in with the other cats and a little room apart from the farm in which she sleeps and takes shelter in winter.
Minnie has a coat of many colours; white, beige, black and orange-brown. Lately Minnie has become a mother and she has three adorable kittens of her own. She takes good care of them and they are very plump and healthy.
They are all females, so I named them Daisy, Theresa and Molly.
I go to visit Minnie and the other cats every day; I give them food and drink and spend over an hour playing with them.
For me Minnie is a very special cat, she purrs loudly when she sees me and is very playful although now she is an adult cat.
I love Minnie very much and I wish to win this competition so I can buy her some very good cat food and some nice toys with which we can spend some happy hours playing together.
