The world record height jumped by a rabbit is one metre and the record length is three metres. A rabbit has 18 toenails, four on each back foot and five on the front.

There are over 150 different rabbit coat colours and rabbits can be brown, blue-grey, blue, marbled or pink-eyed. And they can see behind them without turning their heads.

Rabbits are affectionate, social and interactive animals and are most active at dawn and dusk, needing at least four hours exercise a day. They cannot live a healthy life shut in a cage.

Many children keep rabbits as pets but they also need daily care from a responsible adult. They do not like to be picked up, loud noises and sudden movements. They can die of fright and be injured easily.

A rabbit's diet is very important. The wrong food can kill a rabbit. But well cared for, a rabbit can live eight to 12 years.
