A court yesterday turned down a request for a prohibitory injunction against the adjudication of tenders for cleaning services at Mater Dei Hospital.

The request was filed by Bad Boy Cleaning Services Ltd, Euro Hygene International Ltd, MCCS Co. Ltd and Coopservice S Coop SA, which formed the consortium Servizi Malta, against the Director of Contracts.

The companies claimed they had been excluded from the tendering process because one of the four bid bonds they had submitted lacked, by a few days, a sufficiently long validity period. They deemed such exclusion unfounded and illegal.

The court had provisionally upheld the request and authorised the director to file a reply, but after hearing evidence and submissions by the lawyers, it turned down the request.

Dr Andrew Borg Cardona represented the companies.
