Carlsberg Tournament

Sliema Wanderers and Birkirkara started their Carlsberg Tournament programme at the Hibs Ground with 3-0 and 3-2 victories over Msida St Joseph and Pietà Hotspurs respectively, yesterday.

Orosco Anonam shot the Wanderers ahead after nine minutes and Serb forward Alexander Madzar added two more goals in the second half to give Ray Farrugia's team a clear winning margin.

Birkirkara went into the break leading 2-0 following goals by Boris Sanjo and a David Camenzuli own goal. Rumen Galabov pulled one back on 77 minutes but Michael Galea restored the Stripes' two-goal lead.

Svetlan Kondev made the score look more respectable with a stoppage-time goal for the Hotspurs.

Tomorrow: 6 p.m. Sliema vs Birkirkara; 8 p.m. Pietà vs Msida.
