Go supports and powers Scouts' projects

Go has supported the Scout Association of Malta, providing broadband Internet connections for 'Scouting Sunrise' - an international event marking the centenary celebrations of Scouting worldwide.

Linked to the rest of the world via Go's fast broadband Internet services, the local Scouting community joined forces with Scout associations in over 200 countries around the world to mark the first 100 years of scouting.

Thousands of Scouts in Malta met recently on the Granaries in Floriana to celebrate 'Scouting Sunrise' and had the time of their life taking part in various activities. Youths who opted to join in the fun of 'Jamboree on the Internet' enjoyed communicating with their counterparts around the world.

Further, as a result of an online connection with the Centenary Jamboree site in the UK, youths were given the unique opportunity to join 40,000 Scouts from all over the world gathered in Hylands Park, and together renew their Scouts' promise.

A dream became reality for the Scouts when they witnessed the symbolical kudu horn-blowing ceremony at Brownsea Island, UK.

Meanwhile, Go has responded positively to a request from the Malta Scouts' Association Marsa Group and will be contributing towards the purchase of tents for the Group's outdoor activities. "We are delighted to have the opportunity of supporting these Scouting programmes aimed at the character development, person fitness and good citizenship of youths locally," Franco Aloisio, Go's head of Communications and Public Affairs, said.

"By assisting the Malta Scouts Association in its ongoing mission of training its young members to take up constructive roles in society as responsible and caring adults underpins Go's efforts to promote the living standards of future generations."
