A guidebook on Dyslexia for parents, translated into seven languages including Maltese, was launched during a symposium held in Luxembourg in June.
It was produced through the collaboration of parents, teachers and other professionals, co-ordinated by 13 institutions from eight European countries - namely Austria, Luxembourg, Czech Republic, Poland, United Kingdom, Germany, Turkey and Malta that were involved in the Grundtvig 2 project DYPATEC - Dyslexia, Parents and Teachers Collaboration'.
The Maltese partner in the project, which was financed through Grundtvig 2 grants received from the European Commission through the EUPU, was the Specific Learning Difficulties service (SpLD), a unit within the Department for Curriculum Management of the Education Division.
At the symposium held to launch the guidebook, two teachers from the SpLD service, Kevin Cardona and Christine Xuereb, also contributed by holding workshops for parents.
