Theatre bonanza starts today

The Theatre Studies Division within the Mediterranean Institute at the University of Malta is holding the third edition of the Summer University of Performing Arts (Supa), a bonanza of theatrical performances, workshops, demonstrations and conferences.

Today and tomorrow, the Marseille-based dance company, collectif k.o.com, will be presenting Diptyque I - a 50-minute piece directed by Manon Avram that fuses contemporary dance and photography.

On August 18 and 19, Glasgow/Berlin-based The Working Party will be presenting New Adventures of Baron Munchausen written by Scotland's national poet, Edwin Morgan.

Supa 2007 will come to a close on August 28 with a conference related to this year's events.

All performances start at 9 p.m. at the MITP theatre in Valletta. Tickets can be bought from the Malta Arts Festival section on www.maltaticket.com.

Bank of Valletta is supporting the event.
