A 17-year-old from Sta Venera was remanded in custody after breaching his bail conditions.
The youngster, whose name is not being published because of his age, had been charged last June, along with another 20-year-old, in connection with a fight in Paceville in which another youngster was seriously injured.
They had been granted bail on condition that they be home at 9 p.m. However, Inspector Mario Tonna testified yesterday that he saw the youngster last Wednesday, seriously drunk, being carried on someone else's shoulders during the feast of St Cajetan in Hamrun after 11 p.m.
He was arrested on Thursday since, the inspector said, he did not want to create panic, plus he wanted to give him time to sober up. When arrested the youngster tried to assault an officer at the police station, he said.
Magistrate Lawrence Quintano ordered his immediate arrest.
