The Ministry for Investment, Industry and Information Technology said MITTS has received five offers from small and medium-sized enterprises for the contract to lease computers to schools and the civil service.
The offers were made by: IT Leasing Consortium made up of S&T, ADS, Computer Solutions and Forestals; 2i Nova; Aplan and HP World; Merlin Computers; and Intercomp Marketing.
The process is the subject of controversy with the Malta Chamber for Small and Medium Enterprises - GRTU for the second time requesting a court to stop the authorities from adjudicating the tenders, claiming that the process is "illegal and irregular".
The GRTU said yesterday that the court, presided over by Magistrate Geoffrey Valenzia, has started treating the application by the GRTU to stop the process. The case has been adjourned to Monday when the court is expected to announce its decision.
The GRTU said it had erroneously stated on Thursday that the court had accepted its request to suspend the tendering process until the hearing of the case.
