A 19-year-old boy was yesterday fined Lm220 for threatening and assaulting people at a Hamrun band club while his father was put on probation for a year for assaulting police at the police station in the locality.
Magistrate Consuelo Scerri Herrera heard Redent Ciantar, 19, of Hamrun plead guilty to assaulting and threatening several people at the San Gejtanu Band Club and breaching the peace on Monday night. For this he was fined Lm220.
Mr Ciantar's 46-year-old father, Michael, admitted to assaulting and threatening police officers at the Hamrun police station later that night and disobeying police. The magistrate put him on probation for a year.
Police Inspector Mario Tonna prosecuted.
Lawyer José Herrera appeared for the Ciantars.
