Tony Drago booked his place in the first round proper of the Shanghai Masters with a comfortable 5-2 victory over China's A Bulajian in the Wild Card Round yesterday.
Drago, ranked 52nd in the provisional WSA list, took one hour 45 minutes to beat Bulajian and set up a clash against Malta Cup finalist Ryan Day, of Wales, today.
The key frame was the sixth when the Bulajian made a 55, only for Drago to produce a superb 43 clearance to snatch it 66-65.
"If it had gone 3-3 at that point anything could have happened, so it was a very important frame for me," said Drago, whose top break was 45.
