Until a few years ago, the fishermen's promenade at Spinola Bay, next to the restaurants overlooking the bay, was a pleasant, quiet place to relax at on a summer evening.
The promenade has now become a parking lot for cars and pleasure boats, and every summer the number of parked boats and cars is increasing.
Over the last few years two or more iron benches on the promenade have been dislodged to make room for more cars and boats.
One of the dislodged benches has been lying on the ground for the last three months - in a prime tourist area! I'd like to ask the St Julians council to reclaim the promenade for its original use, as a promenade, instead of the parking area it has become!
Cars should not be allowed to drive along the promenade as if it were a thoroughfare and neither should they be allowed to park there.
The promenade should not serve as a parking lot for pleasure boats and only a few fishing boats should be allowed on the promenade.
