Obituary

BARBARA. On August 5, Mary, former assistant head teacher, of Zejtun, residing at Zejtun Home, aged 89, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends, among them Carmelo Bonnici, Carmelina Buhagiar, Maria and her husband Carmelo Palmier Cecy.
The funeral leaves Zammit Clapp Hospital today at 3.30 p.m. for St Gregory church, Zejtun, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 4 p.m., followed by interment at St Gregory Cemetery.
Lord, grant her eternal rest.

MONTEBELLO. On August 4, at St Luke's Hospital, VIOLET, née Borg of Sliema, aged 81, went to meet the Risen Lord. Deeply mourned by her husband Joseph and her children Dorsann and her husband Adrian Bencini, Walter and his wife Josette, Nathalie, Marcelline and her husband Charles Pearsall, her grandchildren Caroline, Alexia, Lara, Janine, Anthea, Ruthann, Gabriella, Steve and Martin, relatives and friends.
The funeral leaves St Luke's Hospital today at 9 a.m. for Sacro Cuor parish church, Sliema where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 9.30 a.m., followed by interment at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Dar tal-Providenza, Siggiewi, will be appreciated. The family regret they are unable to receive visitors.
Lord, grant her eternal rest.

CALLUS - MARY, née Rossi, 6.8.'03. Unfading and treasured memories of our dear mother on the fourth anniversary of her death. Always remembered with much love. Deeply missed by all. Lord, grant her eternal rest. Her nine children and their families.

DARMANIN - JOE. Treasured and unfading memories of a dearly beloved, devoted husband, father and grandfather who departed this life six years ago today. Fondly remembered by his wife Miriam, his sons Keith and Neil, daughters-in-law Etienne and Nadine, grand-daughter Kay, relatives and friends. Always in our thoughts and prayers. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

FARRUGIA. In loving memory of our beloved DORIS, today the 24th anniversary of her meeting with the Lord. Fondly remembered by her husband Gigi, children Lucienne, Josette, Ivan and Adrian and their families. A Mass for the repose of her soul will be said today at 6.30 p.m. at St Joseph the Worker parish church, Birkirkara.

GALEA - EMMA. Treasured and unfading memories of a dear mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, today the first anniversary of her demise. Always in our thoughts and prayers. Joseph and Yvonne, Marika and Charles, Cecilia and Brian, Paula and Sandro, Serena, Raphael, Allen, Keith and Bernard, Mauro, Enrica, Claude and Chloe.

SCERRI - NELLIE, née Spiteri Paris. In ever loving memory of a beloved mother and grandmother, today the 13th anniversary of her passing away. Her son Michael, Babette and Erica.

Prayer Meeting

The next MIR prayer meeting for families, led by Fr Hayden Williams, is scheduled for August 16 at the Marija Regina church, in Qormi, between 7 and 9.45 p.m.

The meeting will include the rosary, Mass and adoration. Priests will be available to hear confession.

Those attending are requested to bring food for Fondazzjoni Suret il-Bniedem and the Franciscan Capuchin Foundation which cares for the homeless.

European Theatre

A lecture entitled Founding A Veritable European Theatre In Malta will be delivered at the German-Maltese Circle, Messina Palace, St Christopher Street, Valletta on August 13 at 7 p.m. by Björn Potulski, a German theatre director staging the whole of the Old Testament as a series of contemporary productions and the leader of an initiative to form a veritable European Theatre in Malta. The Old Testament Theatre Project is produced in Malta.

The lecture will present the vision of the project and an insight into its aesthetic and organisational challenges.

Facilitators' Induction Course

Equal Partners Foundation has just finished its facilitators' induction course at the University of Malta.

This 48-hour course is an introduction to various topics on disability, providing a solid foundation to persons interested in working in this field.

It also serves as a refresher for those already working as facilitators, the foundation said.

Additionally, the course encourages participants to engage in further training. Persons with a disability, parents of children with disability, and some of the most experienced professionals in the field were among the speakers.

At Gallery G, No. 4, Sir Ugo Mifsud Street, Lija, Layers, an exhibition of paintings by Julian Calabrese.

At the China Cultural Centre, Melita Street, Valletta, an exhibition of photographs of the city of Beijing, including photos from past Olympic games and the preparations for the 2008 Beijing Games.

At the Mediterranean Conference Centre, Valletta paintings by Anastasia Ponyatovskaya.
