Maria Dolores Ramage, a 58-year-old mother of three, has been nominated best business woman in Floriana by mayor Nigel Holland.
Ms Ramage has been involved in business for 14 and a half years, 12 of which were spent in Scotland. There, together with her husband, she ran a fish and chip shop. She also worked for 12 years as an assistant manager at a supermarket chain. In that post, she was in charge of running the dairy department before moving on to the post of adviser in the beer, wines and spirits department. She now runs a grocery store with her husband.
The presentation of the Best Business Woman of the Locality Award was made during the annual conference of the Malta Association of Women in Business.
