Yesterday week, while trying to access Ta' Qali through one of the public roads leading to the Beer Festival, I experienced first-hand George Orwell's famous phrase in his novel Animal Farm: "All animals are equal but some are more equal than others".

A policeman, blocking the road I chose to use to avoid the traffic, informed me that the road was open only to VIPs and people with platinum cards! Don't we all pay taxes to use the public roads on the Maltese Islands? Or are some Maltese more equal than others? Long live Animal Farm!
