The Palace, the new five-star hotel in Sliema opened its doors last Wednesday, as scheduled, and welcomed its first guests with a champagne reception.

"We have opened our doors as promised, right on schedule," general manager Claire Xuereb said, addressing guests. "A lot of thought and commitment has gone into the general concept of this hotel which, as one can perceive, is recurrent in the architecture, decor and the service. And now that the first guests are settled it seems that our dream has become a very tangible reality, one, we are sure, will prove to be an authentic breath of fresh air in this market".

Guests were pleasantly surprised at the reception they received and had positive comments about The Palace's distinctive features and the sumptuousness of the décor. They said that considering that they were the very first guests everything worked like clockwork and the service was impeccable: "The Palace has more than lived up to its promise - a very pleasant surprise indeed".

The Palace's elegantly furnished rooms offer different designs based on classical and contemporary lines. There are also six designer suites inspired by the five senses and each will have a different theme, namely "View", "Light", "Flavours", "Fragrance", "Texture", and "Music". This is a totally new concept for the Maltese islands and is expected to give the hotel a distinctive character.

The Palace offers the ultimate experience for even the most travel-weary guest. The top three floors will also incorporate the hotel's spa and wellness centre. The architects of The Palace are Mangion, Mangion & Partners, while the interior designer is architect Martin Xuereb.

The Palace incorporates food and drink outlets: The Talk of Town is the lobby café, the TemptAsian Lounge situated on the top floor of The Palace offers 360-degree magnificent views and a fusion of Asian cuisines, while The Tabloid is the hotel's main restaurant offering Mediterranean food and a contemporary and stylish venue for discerning diners.
