Formula One championship leaders McLaren were summoned to a meeting of the Hungarian Grand Prixstewards today after Fernando Alonso secured a controversial pole position for Sunday's race.

McLaren team boss Ron Dennis and team manager Dave Ryan met stewards after the session.

Both men were then recalled for a further enquiry along with double world champion Alonso and championship leader Lewis Hamilton.

Spaniard Alonso took pole position with his final lap of the session, beating 22-year-old rookie team mate Hamilton intosecond place.

Hamilton had been quickest until he was forced to wait behind Alonso in the pits for a final change of tyres. The lengthy delay, which some suspect was deliberate by Alonso, prevented Hamilton from getting round the circuit in time for a final quick lap. (Reuters)
