The Malta AAA will be organising an IAAF Level I coaching course between September 1 and 14. Theory sessions will be held at the MAAA headquarters while the practical sessions will be held at the Marsa athletic track.
As in past years, the IAAF Level I course will be organised on a full-time basis, meaning that participants will be obliged to attend morning and afternoon sessions.
The course will be conducted by two foreign lecturers appointed by the IAAF.
The course will be a mixture of practical and theory sessions and will give participants the tools to coach all track and field events at a basic level. The course is also open to non-MAAA members and should also prove especially useful to PE teachers and University students who are specialising in PE.
This IAAF Level I course, which will benefit from Olympic Solidarity support, will probably be the last of its kind as the IAAF are planning to modify the structure of their courses.
In future, athletics coaches opting for the IAAF coaching pathway will have to start with a course in Kids Athletics rather than basic preparation in all track and field events as is currently the case.
Prospective participants in next month's course are to write to the association at Malta AAA, 6, Racecourse Street, Marsa (maaa@onvol.net).
