The condition of the 44-year-old Serb who was injured while he was working at Bulebel, limits of Zejtun, on Wednesday morning has improved and is now "stable", the police said.

The worker was critically injured when he was hit by a steel mesh used in construction as it was being shifted from one place to another by a crane. The mesh is used to reinforce concrete.

The worker was transferred from intensive care to a ward at St Luke's Hospital where he is receiving further treatment.
