Call for tax measures

The leftist organisation Zminijietna said that the forthcoming budget should be based on social justice and should introduce measures aimed at bringing about more equality in society.

It called for measures to safeguard rights of workers who, it said, "are facing harsh realities due to neo-liberal policies".

The organisation called for an increase in the minimum wage, income tax relief for low and middle income earners and increased taxation on the wealthy, on property speculation and on companies making windfall profits such as banks and gaming companies.
