Mobile phone subscriptions top 353,000

Subscriptions to all forms of communication technology were up at the end of June, the National Statistics Office said.

Mobile telephone subscriptions in the April-June quarter reached 353,495.

The fixed-telephone subscription index increased by 4.6 per cent over the same quarter last year.

The rate of internet subscriptions per 100 persons of the population reached 22.2.

Total postal traffic for the second quarter amounted to around 11.2 million items.

In the same reference period, courier traffic totalled 63,829 items, of which 51 per cent were letters or documents and the rest parcels.
