Experienced referee Terry Camilleri will be among the officials for World Snooker's opening ranking tournament of the season which will be played in China this month - the Roewe Shanghai Masters.

Competition at the Shanghai Grand Stage, with a capacity seating of 4,612, will be played between August 6 and 12.

This will not be the first time for Camilleri to figure in such high-profile competitions as the professional Maltese ref has been given similar assignments before, including the final of this year's Malta Cup at the Portomaso Hilton.

The ranking tournament in Malta was omitted from the official World Snooker calendar for season 2007/08.

Maltese snooker enthusiasts will have double interest in the Shanghai Masters with the participation of Tony Drago following his successful bid at the Prestatyn qualifiers in June.

Drago cleared four rounds to earn his berth in Shanghai where he plays in the Wild Card Round against A. Bulajiang on Monday. Ryan Day awaits the winner of this match in the best-of-nine First Round match.

Wild Card Round:
Scott MacKenzie vs Yang Qintian; Stuart Pettman vs Cao Kaisheng; Fergal O'Brien vs Cao Xinlong; Adrian Gunnell vs Jin Long; Dominic Dale vs Liu Chuang; Tony Drago vs A. Bulajiang; Michael Judge vs Xiao Guodong; Mike Dunn vs Yu Delu.
