The Santa Marija Mqabba Fireworks Organisation is taking part for the first time in an international fireworks festival, Caput Lucis, held annually in the municipality of Valmontone, 50 kilometres from Rome.

The festival will be held between today and Sunday.

The fireworks organisation, whose display takes place tomorrow, will be joined by others from Japan, Italy, England, Romania, Slovenia, Spain and China, chosen to take part because they proved to be among the best in the world, it said in a statement.

It said the festival is expected to have an audience of 300,000.
