It was the turn of illegal immigrants to meet Archbishop Paul Cremona when he paid a visit to the detention centre in Hal Far yesterday.

The Curia said Mgr Cremona met war-scarred immigrants as well as some who had lost their loved ones in perilous sea journeys. He listened to them and prayed with them.

He was accompanied by Fr Paul Pace, director of the Jesuit Refugee Service, Mgr Philip Calleja and Fr Alfred Vella, the founder and director respectively of the Emigrants' Commission.

The Archbishop has been meeting different sectors of the community since he was ordained in January.

The event was not open to the press.
