The owner of a Marsascala confectionery was yesterday charged with selling a bottle of vodka to a young man who ended up in hospital after drinking all of it.

Stephan Barbara, 30, of Fgura pleaded not guilty to selling alcohol to minors from Piu Dolce Confectionery and causing a young man to suffer seriously injuries through his (Mr Barbara's) negligence on Sunday.

Police Inspector Alexander Grech told Magistrate Doreen Clarke that the young man ended up in hospital after drinking a bottle of vodka he allegedly bought from Mr Barbara.

Lawyer Robert Abela appeared for Mr Barbara.
