A man was cleared of the misappropriation of Lm25,692 in taxes after a magistrate ruled that the elements of the crime had not been proven.

Magistrate Consuelo Scerri Herrera cleared Emanuel Aquilina, 67, of Swieqi of the misappropriation of the money he owed to the government as director of Sand & Gravel Ltd.

The magistrate ruled that the elements of misappropriation had not been proven.

Police Inspector Joseph Cordina prosecuted.
