Stop the bells

Allow me to refer to Joe Borg (July 19), the sole sympathiser with Alexander Cortis who lamented about bell ringing at Zabbar parish church.
Being a very active bell ringer and campanologist, may I reiterate that I am against excessive bell ringing periods and will be the first to condemn this if and when it is done.
Mr Borg complains about the Zabbar bells ringing for 15 minutes at 8.15 a.m. about a month ago. The noise, he says, was so unbearable it almost made him miss the queue at the bank.
May I ask Mr Borg whether the bank is situated in the Zabbar belfry to be so unbearable? Is he really serious to make such an argument?
I think it would be a good idea if Mr Borg had to forward in advance to the parish priest his planned visits to the bank so as to ensure that the bells are not rung during that time because it is not right that he should miss the queue because of the bells!
Such an infernal debacle would certainly not be Christian because, after all, to love one's neighbour involves consideration for others.
