A poster drawn by Caroline Camilleri, a Form 3 student from Canon Paul Pullicino Girls' Secondary School, Rabat, has been short-listed by a jury of European experts as one of three best entries in the 12 and under age group out of a total of 2,400 entries submitted from almost all European countries to this year's edition of the 'Energy is our Future' school art competition. Caroline's winning entry was entitled "Stop wasting natural resources".
Besides Caroline, five other students from the Rabat school - Nadine Mifsud, Sara Giordmaina, Kimberly Azzopardi, Annabel Cutajar and Kelsie Debattista - also participated in the competition.
In the first shortlist of 120 posters selected from all the entries, five posters came from Malta, including those submitted by Nadine, Sara, Annabel, and Caroline.
A total of 12 finalists were chosen, three in each of the four age group categories. Caroline will now be invited to attend a prize-giving ceremony in Brussels on September 20.
The competition's theme this year focused on three areas: Saving energy solutions in the students' immediate environment; design and materials influencing energy consumption, and renewable energy as a key solution to the energy needs of tomorrow.
Well done, Caroline! You made us proud. Well done also to all the participants for their efforts and the excellent posters they produced.
