A Message

Richard Matrenza and Doris Mercieca were married 50 years ago today. We have two children: a son, David, married to Margaret Farrugia, a daughter, Annemarie, and two lovingly delightful grandchildren, Tamara and Katryna.

We plan to spend this very special occasion quietly. Reflectively reviewing our years together.

We have made it. Which means it can be done. Not always easy. But possible. We wish to recall and share with others what A.H. Clough, a poet/philosopher, stated many years ago: "Say not the struggle naught availeth, the labour and the wounds are vain".

We wish to pass this message to all those who plan to enter a similar partnership and to any other two characters, two individuals, different personalities and personae, who are already at some stage or other in a partnership.

With goodwill and determination there can always be light at the end of the tunnel. All journeys and situations have to be planned wisely and to be prepared for contingencies.

This is the reality.
Doris and Richard.
