Drop in unemployment

The number of registered unemployed persons last month dropped by 724 when compared to the same month last year, the National Statistics Office said.

The number of registered unemployed stood at 6,337.

Over the past 12 months, all the age groups showed a decrease in the number of registered unemployed, except for the age cohort of males aged 45 and over, which registered an increase of 33 persons.

The number of registered unemployed in Gozo remained stable.

Occupations being sought by men related to elementary duties, services and trades, whereas women tended to seek jobs that were clerical or service-oriented.
